Nocturne Privacy Policy
How Nocturne handles sleep audio, microphone access, analytics, diagnostics, advertising, and user choices.

Nocturne is a sleep sound recording and monitoring application for Android. This Privacy Policy explains how Nocturne accesses and handles information, what information remains only on your device, what information may be processed by third-party services used by the app, and the choices available to you.
1. Sleep audio recordings
Nocturne uses your device's microphone when you start sleep monitoring in order to detect and record sounds during your sleep session.
Sleep audio recordings created by Nocturne are stored locally on your device in the app's storage area.
Nocturne does not automatically upload your sleep audio recordings to our servers, Firebase, Google Analytics, Google AdMob, or Firebase Crashlytics.
We do not operate a server that stores your sleep recordings.
You may listen to, favorite, delete, export, or share a recording from within the app.
If you choose to share a recording, Android allows you to select another application or service to receive that recording. The privacy practices of the service you choose are governed by that service's own privacy policy.
If you export a recording to your device's Downloads folder, that exported copy is under your control and may remain on your device even if the original recording is later removed from Nocturne.
2. Microphone access
Nocturne requests Android's microphone permission because microphone access is necessary for its core sleep-monitoring and sound-recording functionality.
Microphone access is used to:
- detect sound levels while monitoring is active;
- identify sounds that meet the recording threshold; and
- create sleep sound recordings on your device.
Nocturne does not use microphone access for advertising.
You may deny or revoke microphone permission through Android settings. If microphone permission is not granted, Nocturne's recording functionality will not work.
3. Information collected for analytics
Nocturne uses Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google, to help us understand how the app is used and improve its features.
Analytics information may include app usage and interaction information such as app launches, sessions, screens viewed, recording sessions, playback activity, favorites, sharing or exporting actions, settings interactions, and similar app events.
Some events may include technical measurements such as recording-session duration, number of recordings saved, number of recording candidates discarded, or total captured-audio duration.
These analytics measurements describe how the app is functioning and being used. No sleep audio content is included in Firebase Analytics events.
Google and Firebase may also process technical information and identifiers associated with the application or device as part of providing Analytics.
4. Crash and diagnostic information
Nocturne uses Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google, to identify crashes, errors, application-not-responding events, and other technical problems.
Crashlytics may process information such as:
- crash stack traces;
- device manufacturer, model, operating-system information and other device metadata;
- application version and application state;
- Crashlytics and Firebase installation identifiers;
- session and application-performance information; and
- diagnostic information added by Nocturne to help identify recording, playback, export, or other technical failures.
For recording-related diagnostics, Nocturne may attach technical information such as recording state, recording stage, recording-session duration, counts of saved or discarded recordings, permission status, battery-optimization status, file size, or file type.
Nocturne does not intentionally send sleep audio, recording filenames, or recording file paths to Firebase Crashlytics.
Crashlytics information is used to diagnose problems, improve reliability, and reduce crashes and recording failures.
5. Advertising
Nocturne displays advertisements using the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob).
Google Mobile Ads may automatically process information including:
- your device's IP address, which may be used to estimate general location;
- interactions with the app or advertisements;
- diagnostic and performance information; and
- device or advertising identifiers, where permitted.
This information may be used by Google and its advertising partners for purposes such as providing advertising, measuring advertising performance, analytics, fraud prevention, security, and, where permitted by your privacy choices, ad personalization.
Nocturne does not provide your sleep audio recordings to advertisers.
6. Advertising privacy choices and consent
Where required by applicable privacy regulations, Nocturne uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present advertising privacy choices.
Depending on your region and applicable law, you may be asked whether you consent to certain uses of your information for advertising purposes or may be offered options to manage those uses.
Your advertising privacy choice is separate from Android's microphone permission. Agreeing to advertising-related processing does not grant Nocturne additional microphone access and does not authorize Nocturne to upload your sleep recordings.
When required, you can revisit your advertising privacy choices from the Privacy section of Nocturne's settings.
7. Third-party services
Nocturne currently uses the following Google services:
Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads — to display and measure advertisements and help prevent advertising fraud.
Firebase Analytics — to understand app usage and improve Nocturne.
Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Sessions — to diagnose crashes, errors, reliability issues, and application performance.
These services may process information according to Google's applicable privacy policies and service terms.
Nocturne does not sell your sleep recordings or personal and sensitive user data.
8. Accounts and personal information
Nocturne does not currently require you to create an account in order to use its sleep-recording features.
We do not ask you to provide your name, postal address, contacts, payment-card information, or other profile information as part of normal app use.
Information that you voluntarily include when contacting us by email will be used to respond to your request.
9. Location
Nocturne does not request Android location permission and does not use GPS to determine your precise location.
However, Google Mobile Ads may process your device's IP address, which Google states may be used to estimate the device's general location for advertising, analytics, and fraud-prevention purposes.
10. Data storage and retention
Sleep recordings remain locally on your device until you delete them, clear the app's data, or remove the application.
Recordings that you separately export or share may continue to exist in the destination you selected and are not necessarily removed when Nocturne is uninstalled.
Nocturne does not maintain a cloud database containing your sleep recordings.
Information processed through Google AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and related Google services is retained according to the applicable service configuration and Google's retention practices.
11. Deleting your data
You can delete individual recordings directly from Nocturne. The app also provides controls for deleting multiple recordings.
You can remove Nocturne's locally stored application data through Android's application settings or by uninstalling the app.
Copies that you have exported to Downloads or shared with another service must be deleted separately from those locations.
Because Nocturne does not currently maintain user accounts or a developer-operated database of sleep recordings, there is no separate Nocturne cloud account containing your recordings to delete.
For privacy questions or requests relating to information under our control, contact global.tech.innovations.support@gmail.com.
12. Security
Nocturne is designed to keep sleep recordings locally on the user's device rather than transferring them to a Nocturne-operated server.
Information transmitted to Google services such as Firebase and Google Mobile Ads is handled using the security mechanisms provided by those services, including encrypted transmission where supported.
We take reasonable measures to limit the information included in analytics and diagnostic reports and avoid intentionally sending sleep audio content through those services.
13. Your choices
You can revoke microphone or notification permissions through Android settings, delete local recordings within Nocturne, delete or reset your Android advertising identifier through your device's privacy settings where available, and manage advertising privacy choices through Nocturne when the applicable privacy-options control is required.
You can also stop using Nocturne and uninstall the application at any time.
14. Children's privacy
Nocturne is not designed for or directed to children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly use Nocturne to collect personal information directly from children under 13.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can review the situation.
15. International users
Third-party services used by Nocturne, including Google AdMob and Firebase, may process information in countries other than the country in which you live, subject to their applicable privacy and data-protection practices.
Where required, advertising privacy controls are provided to users according to applicable regional requirements.
16. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Nocturne's features, third-party services, or legal requirements change.
When the policy is materially updated, the effective date at the top of this page will be changed.
We recommend reviewing this page periodically for updates.
